Miami Moments

Arriving in Miami, my husband and I felt the gush of heat and humidity. It was a fun Uber ride listening to Latin music on the radio station 94.9 on our way to the accommodation. Our choice was Hotel Victor South Beach located on Ocean Drive. We were welcomed by Jeffery and Pinar as well as helped by Thomas to our room. There was an wonderful view of the pool, boardwalk and beach.

Starting our tour of the 305, we admired Tower Theater, watched the local gentlemen slap dominoes down at Domino Park and enjoyed live rumba, son Cubano and trova tunes from Ball and Chain next to a cool cigar shop. Soon, it was time for a cafecito at La Colada Gourmet. Following that, we strolled Paseo de la Fama de La Calle Ocho towards the Murals in Little Havana.

For lunch, Torno Súbito was superb. Everything from the decor and dining to the excellent customer service was well worth it at the chef driven Italian establishment. I would definitely recommend with delicious dishes from the magnificent Massimo Bottura and chef Bernardo. Afterwards, we walked around the Design District to Wynwood Walls and through Nader Museum. Art is a big part of my life. I love learning about the various art movements and styles. While in Vice City, the Bad Bunny and David Grutman restaurant, Gekkō was our selection for dinner. The Sapporo or Sauvignon Blanc accompanied by cucumber salad, pork gyoza, shrimp and tuna sushi rolls were awesome. You can’t go wrong here, it’s known for steaks, sushi and more. It was a great way to end the evening.

To start the day, I Think She Is Coffee boosted our energy. Next, Frost Museum of Science offered exhibitions on how scientists discovered bits of ancient life across the Earth in The Dig and an amazing aquarium. Keeping the vibe to stay outside, we headed over to Nikki Beach. The beer, cocktails and entrees were just what we needed. Then we found the Miami Beach sign, took photos for the gram and started our daily session at Miami Beach. Later on, the lovely Los Fuegos celebrated us in a fun way. The Argentine vibes were elegant and inviting. The South American atmosphere is a vivacious vibe.

In the Magic city, we found Nude Miami as a clean and educational place to start the day in Brickell. It’s noted as the healthiest grocery store in America. To get our steps in, we ventured the Perez Art Museum. The contemporary art museum has exhibitions featuring Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cecilia Vicuña, John Baldessari, the Permanent Collection and others.

Once hungry, we made it to Makoto. It’s a modern upscale Japanese restaurant where we ate the bento box, hosomaki snow crab and uramaki vegan Stephen sushi roll. Following that, we took an Uber to the heart of Bal Harbour for our shopping session. If you enjoy the likes of Chanel, Dior, Loewe, Valentino, Victoria Beckham, Vilbrequin and more, this is the place for you. For the afternoon, we took a dip and then relaxed at Miami Beach. To end the evening, we chose Claudie. The French restaurant is one for the books. From entrance to departure, everything was perfect. We went with the Kronenbourg 1664 and Sancerre, steak tartare, zucchini carpaccio, chicken milanese and lobster spaghetti. I would highly recommend and massive thank you to Greta, Jack and the team.

The trip down South was a good getaway for a few days and a change of pace. Would definitely return again in the future.
