Cool Colorado
Spend the week at the W. Definitely did this for the Marriott points. Also because it’s right in the middle of the Aspen action.
Breakfast at Paradise Bakery is the first stop. The coffee is classic and specials are seasonal. From the oven, croissants, morning treats, muffins, brownies and cookies sweeten the mood. Next the Silver Queen Gondola is a fifteen minute ride up. The mountain peak is 11,212 feet. The spectacular views are scenic with flowers, biking and hiking trails and trees.
For lunch, the White House Tavern set in a 19th century cottage fuels the body with elevated cuisine. There are craft cocktails, burgers, sandwiches and salads to select from at the table once settled.
While walking around, the Aspen Art Museum has on view Lena Henke: You and your vim with a bronze female towering sculpture. Her art highlights the relationship between figure and environment. There are explorations of the body in terms of sculptural and psychological states in our world. Then Jasper Marsalis: Einschub who connects art making to communal acts of spectacle. The audience has the opportunity to observe, question and determine across film, paintings, spotlights and stages what roles are represented.
Evening drinks can become a bar crawl by visiting the following: Bad Harriet, Buck, Hooch, Ponyboy Aspen and Aspen Public House.
When ready for dinner, The Wild Fig is an intimate Mediterranean style inspired restaurant. There’s European energy throughout the brasserie. The wine selection features Albariño, Cremant and Nebbiolo. Food starts with fondue, hummus, burrata to greek salad, moules frites, seafood stew and veal loin. Many choices to enjoy!
